Emily Stillman had her whole life ahead of her.
The Andover High School graduate — who mentored friends and was a “connector of people,” according to her mother, Alicia — was a sophomore at Kalamazoo College living in a dorm.
She contracted a deadly strain of meningitis about a year ago, and died in February 2013 — two days after being admitted to the hospital.
Her mother said she would’ve had a chance at survival if the vaccine for Meningococcal Meningitis B, or Men B, was approved here. That’s why Alicia and Michael Stillman of West Bloomfield Township have set up The Emily Stillman Foundation in their daughter’s memory.
